Start with the question you are actually asking
“What did I get?” is the Grade Calculator or the Test Score — marks in, percentage and letter grade out. “What is my overall grade?” is the Weighted Grade, because coursework and exams almost never count equally. “What do I still need?” is the Final Grade, which works backwards from your target to the mark required on the last assessment. That last one is the most useful tool on this page in the week before an exam.
Weighting is what makes averages counter-intuitive
A straight average of your marks is almost always wrong. If coursework is 30% and the exam is 70%, a brilliant coursework mark moves your final grade far less than it feels like it should — and a weak exam mark cannot be rescued by good coursework alone. The Weighted Grade multiplies each component by its weight before averaging, which is the only way to see where an extra hour of revision actually pays.
GPA and CGPA are not the same thing
GPA is the grade point average for a single term or semester; CGPA is the cumulative average across everything you have completed, weighted by credit hours. Because CGPA is credit-weighted, a four-credit module moves it twice as far as a two-credit one — which is why the arithmetic rarely matches instinct.
Grading scales are institution-specific
There is no universal mapping from percentage to letter grade or grade point. A 4.0 scale in the United States, a 10-point scale in India and UK degree classifications all behave differently, and some institutions round at the boundary while others do not. These tools use the most common conventions and let you set your own scale where it matters — but your institution's published handbook is the authority, not this page.
